Vuyile
Voyiya.
South African artist. Printmaker.
A practice shaped by memory, community and place.
What remains
when the surface
is cut away?
A language of
light and absence.
Voyiya’s linocuts emerge from a disciplined hand and a careful engagement with material. His prints deploy arresting contrasts, rich textures and formal restraint to convey memory, community and place.
Early work reflects the Eastern Cape’s coastline and ritual life. Later prints move toward distilled compositions that balance intimacy with a broader archival sensibility.
Encounter the worksThe work continues
in the encounter.
Voyiya’s works are held by private collectors and public institutions across South Africa. His archive serves as a resource for scholarship, exhibitions and new encounters with printmaking.
The estate maintains the prints, master plates and documentation that make these encounters possible. Cataloguing, conservation and research connect the work with future generations.
