Behind the impression.
At nearly a metre wide, "Procession" is among the largest plates the artist carved. The unbroken horizontal line of figures moves the eye continuously across the sheet, echoing the durational experience of witnessing a ceremony rather than a single frozen moment within it.
The full edition of thirty is held across private and institutional collections, with the master plate retained by the estate.
